What is a Smart Report

In today’s data-driven market, it is vital for your organization to be able to quickly review any potential site for the characteristics that matter! That’s why Sitewise created Smart Reports—a custom built, decision-making tool that lets you leverage your account data to generate reports swiftly. Whether it's for you and your team, or to be shared across real estate and market planning teams, your reports can be customized to show maps, charts and tables in a presentation quality format!

Use Cases

  1. I saw a potential site in a new market but I’m not sure what the typical demographics of the area are and if there are many competitors nearby. Is there an easy way for me to review?
  2. I have a site I want to review and compare to my existing stores by most to least similar. But in the comparison, I would like to set the characteristics to compare on based on priority.

Types of Smart Reports

Outlined at a high level below are some report options that are possible within Sitewise.

Site Packages

Creates a consistent site summary to present potential sites to the relevant committees or franchisees. They can include a mixture of Demographics, Maps and organizational data such as sister locations, pipeline locations, competitors, schools, traffic, etc.

Demographics One-Pager

A quick one-page review of a site's main target market using a mixture of demographic data available.

Analog

This report enables you to compare a new potential site with traditional existing locations that have been open for over a year. It can rank stores that are most to least similar to your proposed site based off weighted metrics so you can focus on the data that matters. These metrics may include but are not limited to competitors, demographics, and more! This report is particularly useful as past data can provide important insight into potential predicters of performance.
Notes
Note: This report is most reliable when using many traditional store locations to compare to the potential site. While you can compare other store locations, this is not recommended as non-traditional locations may be successful based on unique factors specific to their locations.

Cannibalization Reports

Understanding the impact a new location may have on an existing location’s sales is important to ensure the most profitable and strategic decisions are made. We can conduct an impact analysis by understanding where your customers are traveling from and why. Then, using this data, we can extrapolate a prediction of how that may affect your sister store’s revenue and other important performance factors.

Model/Sales Forecast Reports

A comprehensive, customized report that offers insights into the sales potential for any site nationwide. Tailored to your brand’s unique customer profile and specific traffic drivers, it considers competition, sister locations, demographics, performance of your existing locations, site characteristics, and other factors that can have an impact on store performance. This empowers your team to make informed decisions about where to open new store locations in any market.

Our goal is to make all reports easily accessible so you can run them whenever its needed. There are many ways to run a smart report depending on how you leverage Sitewise for insight.

Most smart reports are generated through the wizard. This allows you to define your site before creating a report based on customized parameters! Below are a few options to open the wizard.

From the Tool Bar

  1. Click on the lightning bolt in the tool bar.

  1. Use the search bar in the tool bar at the top of the screen to type in the required address.
  2. Once you click the magnifying glass to search, a drop pin will appear at the site and an info box will open.

  3. Click on the lightning bolt to open the Smart Report wizard on the right side of the screen.

From Existing Data point

It is possible to run a Smart Report on an existing site from a layer in Sitewise. To do this, follow the steps below:

  2. You can locate the desired site by panning and zooming to it or utilizing the search bar to find the store based on ID or name.
  3. Click on the icon for the required site
  4. From the info box pop up, click on the lightning bolt to load the Smart report wizard.

Step 2: Using the Smart Report Wizard

After selecting your site, a window will appear on the right-hand side of the screen. This is the wizard! It makes running your Smart Reports quick and simple. The wizard enables you to define characteristics about the location that you want pulled into the report.  This essentially allows you to apply some of your market knowledge to the report generation.  The parameters that appear in the wizard will vary for each client depending on how you will be using the report in your analysis.
  1. Open the wizard using one of the first three methods mentioned above.

  2. From the ‘Choose a Report Wizard’ drop down, select the smart report you would like to create.

  4. Click ‘Next’

  5. In the next window, select the desired output format you would like.
  6. It is recommended to add your email into this field. This way, you will always have a copy of the report available to you if it’s accidentally deleted after being downloaded. It also enables you to complete other tasks as the report is being generated.
  7. Site Details.
    1. The fields that appear here will differ depending on your report setup. Fill out any relevant details here for the selected site.
  8. Click Next

  9. Your smart reports can be set up to run on specified study area types and sizes. In this step, you can define the study areas to generate in the report.
  10. NotesNote: This step may look different depending on the report’s customizations in your account.
  11. Click create.
    1. A small yellow box will appear on the bottom right side of the screen as the report is rendered. Once complete, the box will turn to a download link.

NotesNote: If it’s a report with a larger study area, then it may take more time to render. Therefore, it is recommended to add your email as you will receive a copy once it’s completed.
