Navigating the Profile Tab

The Profile Tab displays the demographic data for the selected study area(s). There are different categories that highlight different demographics and options to export the information for offline use.

Loading Data

You have two options to populate data in this tab:
  1. Create a study area and do not select the ‘stay on map’ option.
    1. Alternatively, after creating all the study areas, click the Profile tab at the top of the page.
  2. Go to the My Projects tab and select a past project to load onto the Map.

The Profile Tab

Once you're in the Profile tab, the top menu bar will change to show options that help you view the demographics of an area of interest.

1. Category Selection

The options that appear here will depend on the database subscriptions you have. It breaks down the demographics into sections such as population summary, household summary, income, etc. for your review.

Key Demographics

This is a custom-made report which should display 95% of the data you require to do a quick review of a site. If you find that some key demographics which you utilize frequently are missing from this page, please reach out to support for it to be added.

Other Categories

The categories available are unique to the data subscription your organization opted for. A breakdown of all the databases available with an overview of each can be found here

2. Create a report

To use the data offline for further analysis, please click the ‘Create a Report’  icon. In the pop-up screen select the categories, the format (pdf or excel), and if you want a map and date included then click ’create report’. It is recommended to add your email especially for larger reports to enable you to complete other tasks as the report is generated.
Please review this article, which covers exporting a standard report in more detail.

3. Create a Smart Report

It is recommended that all Smart Reports are created via the Lightning Bolt icon. Smart Reports run with special functionality so it's important they're run as expected. However, some clients have customized reports which are required to be ran via the profile tab. Therefore, we only recommend using this option if advised to do so.

4. Report History

Once a standard report is generated, the system stores a copy under the report history tab. Therefore, if a report is lost, a copy can still be located and redownload from here.
To download, please select the  icon to immediately download a copy of the report. Alternatively, you can review the project associated with the report by selecting the magnifying glass beside the view project column.

5. Project Properties

For updating the project name or removing any existing unwanted study areas, please select the icon labelled above. The properties of the project will then populate on the right-hand side of the screen for you to update as necessary.

6. Search Profile

This is one of the most utilized tools in the profile tab. It allows for quick and efficient searches through all the categories for specific variables.
Using alternative words or phrases may help with the search for specific variables. For example, labor, occupation, and work are all synonyms and may help you find different demographic variables throughout the database.
