What Are Layers?
Layers are visual depictions of data from a user table or licensed point subscriptions, such as ChainXY orStreetLight Traffic Data. Layers can be displayed on the Sitewise map by adding it to a mapset. Layers offer numerous styling options to enable the user to create a meaningful visual representation of their data. Since layers visually represent tables, they cannot be directly exported; instead, they must be exported to the underlying referenced table.
Layers can display in a multitude of different ways in a mapset and can be easily customized to display how you would like on the map. The two fundamental types of layers are point and polygon layers.
Point Layers
Point data refers to a specific point on a map depicted through a Latitude and Longitude coordinate. Point layers can be styled on one all-encompassing icon or specific statuses for a more granular view. For example, the Development Pipeline layer is styling on different statuses to visually depict where the location is at with their pipeline development stage.

Polygon Layers
Polygons refer to data based on regions that can be referenced from a predefined geographical boundary (I.e., State, DMA) or free form. Like point layers, polygons can be styled on one all-encompassing region or from specific statuses. For example, the Area Development Agreements layer is styling on the two Pending and Sold statuses to visually depict what stage the polygon region is undergoing.

What is a Table?
A table is a collection of records that have been uploaded to the Sitewise platform. All user data is stored in tables. When you view, edit, or add records, such as a store location, this information is saved to a table.

Imported data can be from many formats like Excel, CSV, and MapInfo. Any files that are uploaded in the system can be found in Settings > Settings > Table.


Tables can let you edit permissions, add/remove attributes and update existing settings. The interface below within the Details tab is where you can edit your table settings. Some features include editing Shared Group Permissions, Site Move Settings and Linking the records to a Census Boundary. Overall, these settings help with the functionality and display of the layer in a Sitewise map.

The column tab allows you to edit your individual attribute settings and reflect on how it displays when toggling the layer settings in the main Sitewise map. You can update and modify settings such as the ‘Description’, ‘Input Type’ and Visibility.
