Experian Mosaic

Experian Mosaic

Mosaic offers a powerful framework for understanding your customers and targeting the right audiences across the U.S. By segmenting households based on demographics, behavior, and lifestyle, it helps businesses tailor strategies to each segment’s needs. This deeper understanding enhances engagement and can help drive more effective marketing.

Use Case

  1. Build detailed profiles of your customers to gain insights into the evolving dimensions of the new American consumer and their household dynamics.
  2. Identify the most significant lifestyle segments in areas of interest and pinpoint high-potential neighborhoods that align with your customer profiles to strategically plan your next location.
  3. Make informed real estate investments by evaluating demographic trends and household dynamics to ensure alignment with targeted markets.

Methodology

Mosaic's methodology relies on over 300 carefully selected data points, chosen for their coverage, quality, consistency, and sustainability. These variables are essential for accurately identifying and differentiating a wide range of consumer characteristics, ensuring that the classification is both comprehensive and reliable. By aggregating this data, Experian can effectively capture the complexities of consumer dynamics.

In addition, Mosaic groups households likely to share similar demographics, lifestyles, and behaviors into 19 summary groups and 71 detailed types. Each segment is assigned specific codes and names, such as "A01 – American Royalty," along with descriptions of the likely characteristics of the households within these categories. This structured framework facilitates targeted analyses, enabling businesses to tailor their strategies to meet specific market needs.

Limitations

  1. It’s essential to recognize that, despite the complexity of Experian’s modeling techniques and extensive dataset, these segmentation values are still the result of models and estimates.
